About Miles Conrad

Miles Conrad created Miles Conrad Encaustics in 2006 to meet the demand for a one-stop shop for designer encaustic paints, supplies, workshops, private lessons, and career consultations for emerging and experienced artists.

Miles is a foremost practitioner in contemporary encaustic. For the past 30 years, he has created award-winning paintings, works on paper, sculpture, and immersive environments exhibited nationally. For more than 18 years, he has presented comprehensive workshops locally and nationally, teaching students innovative techniques for working with encaustic.

Miles currently works from a studio granted by the Artist-In-Residence Program at Process Museum in Tucson, AZ. He received the Tucson Museum of Art- Contemporary Art Society ‘Award of Excellence’ for his work in the Arizona Biennial 2011. He earned his BFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1992 and his MFA from the San Francisco Institute of the Arts in 2009. Miles received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Encaustic Artists Association in 2016.

Miles was the Founding Director and Curator of Conrad Wilde Gallery. From 2005-2018, his gallery hosted innovative exhibitions in Tucson as well as at several international art fairs in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami. He now serves as a private career consultation to artists nationwide.
